The Maya Kitchen presents Top Eats Cooking Demo featuring Come Forth Kitchen
Comfort food provides consolation or a feeling of well-being.
What makes food comfort food? Have you ever wondered why when you feel low and sad you tend to crave for specific dishes?
Comfort food provides a feeling of satisfaction that can gratify both emotional and physical aspects. These are the dishes that remind us of our grandma’s cooking, or our favorite food during our childhood. Not only does comfort food satiates one’s craving but it also brings a sense of emotional security.
At a recent TOP EATS Cooking Demo at the iconic The Maya Kitchen in Makati last February 18, the featured restaurant for that day was Come Forth Kitchen. This charming Makati restaurant specializes in comfort food that has little surprises here and there- from fresh greens to appetizing fresh herbs, Come Forth Kitchen really knows how to soothe one’s food cravings.
The Maya Kitchen has been an institution for culinary excellence where one can learn easy to cook recipes to baking masterpieces. Daily short courses, cooking demo and baking classes are offered here whether for a group or individual one-on-one session.
The Maya Kitchen is the perfect venue for Top Eats and I was so lucky to learn practical cooking tips and new recipes that I can also prepare at home.
For Come Forth Kitchen they have sent the best people to demonstrate some of their most treasured dishes. That afternoon on Top Eats at The Maya Kitchen four exceptionally good dishes were presented.
Malunggay Basil Pesto Penne Pasta
This pasta dish features the earthy flavor of Malunggay (Moringa) with hints of basil. Penne pasta was used for this Come Forth Kitchen recipe since it can pack a flavor with every bite. Perfectly cooked al dente style, the pasta has the right texture that went well with the tasty pesto sauce. Chef Albert topped this dish with freshly picked arugula microgreens that added a subtle punch.
Pizza crust was especially made with bubbly parts and crispy edges which made this pizza extra special. With a Pinoy touch of longganisa added to fresh veggie toppings the taste is so comforting. This dish was prepared by the talented chef of Come Forth Kitchen Ms. Rowena.
Tinapa Caesar Salad
What could be more amazing than having a distinct Pinoy flavor in your Caesar Salad. This uniquely flavored veggie salad features the smoky and savory taste of the humble Tinapa (Filipino smoked fish).I so love this salad.
Pulpog (Ilocano dish)
An innovative popular Ilocano dish that can be considered as the region’s version of Sisig featuring charcoal grilled pork and vinegar sauce.
It was really a wonderful culinary experience for me thanks to Mommy Bloggers Philippines that I am able to attend this event.
I am looking forward to my next culinary adventure at The Maya Kitchen.
