Women of Bel-Air Supports Gawad Kalinga via a Silent Auction

The Holiday Season is the perfect time to spread some good cheers and love not only to the closest people around us but towards the people who needed care and help the most. By celebrating the birth of our Messiah on Christmas, we are able to feel the spirit of kindness and remind us that the real message of Christmas is love. To exemplify the greatest commandment “Love your neighbor as you love yourself” is through an act of selflessness and the Women of Bel-Air Association knows exactly the meaning of this Christian ideology.

Last November 17 at Bel-Air’s community center, the Women of Bel-Air hosted an elegant dinner party that features a silent auction and an art exhibit which will directly benefit Gawad Kalinga’s project in New Washington in the province of Aklan.

The Women of Bel-Air silent auction dinner event was attended by the people in the community and made extra special when Mr. Tony Meloto himself, the founder of Gawad Kalinga showed up in sheer delight as the outpour of support continues to prevail with philanthropic spirit filling up the air.

Bel-Air Village Art Exhibit

Inspiring works of art by the young residents of Bel-Air Village

As you enter the Bel-Air’s village community center, works of arts from the neighborhood especially from the children were displayed for auction. It is a collaborated effort of the entire Bel-Air community through Women of Bel-Air to make this event a truly successful one with the intention of supporting Mr. Melato’s Gawad Kalinga project in Aklan wherein the direct beneficiaries are the women of New Washington who were seriously affected by the devastating typhoon Yolanda. Proceeds from the silent auction will help them with their livelihood projects that would generate income for the families while rebuilding their lives.

It's auction time! Bidding in silence. Bidders are welcome to write down their bids on the sheet of paper for each item. These are just some of the items up for grabs at the recently concluded Bel-Air Silent Auction for Gawad Kalinga.

Among the things that were auctioned came from the personal belongings of generous Bel-Air residents which they gladly donated for this heartwarming event. Elegant pieces of jewelries, fashion accessories, signature clothing, original paintings, home decors, designer’s bags, gadgets and small home appliances were donated for the auction. Things went off pretty fast in silence while the auction is still ongoing during the dinner party.

The evening was filled with lovely music, elegantly prepared dinner, joyous laughter among neighbors and friends but the most important highlight of this Women of Bel-Air Silent Auction and art exhibit is that they are able to give love to Gawad Kalinga in their own simple ways that come with genuine compassion to help others.
